Reference Layers

Reference layers in Scanifly provide you with the flexibility to customize your Map, Lidar, Google 3D and 3D Model Layers.

Map Reference Layer

The map reference layer provides you with the ability to customize the map source, adjust the offset location of the map, and modify the project location.

  • Offset Adjustment: fine tune the placement of the map layer North/South and East/West location
  • Adjust Location: Update the image baselayer location to generate a new image of a new location. This can be used if the wrong address or location was selected in project creation.

Google, Bing & Mapbox are Free

  • Nearmap imagery requires Scanifly Credits.
  • The pricing for the Nearmap Imagery depends on the size of the area that is requested and the number of years of the data that is requested.

    Each 1000 m2 = 2 credits Additional 1000 m2 = +2 credits
All Available Dates = Cost of first map tile + .5 per 1000m2 for each additional date
    • Example: To get Nearmap imagery for a project that requires a 2000m2 map tile, for all 10 available dates, the cost will be:
      - 4 credits for the first map tile + 9 additional credits for the remaining dates.

In this same scenario, if you needed just 1000m2 the cost would be:
      - 2 credits for the first map tile + 4.5 additional credits for the remaining dates.

Lidar Reference Layer

The lidar reference layer, if it is available, gives you the ability to modify the source of the lidar data, adjust the offset and opacity of the lidar layer, and customize its appearance. NEW: You can also include the layer in viewshed shading analysis so that your production calculations account for this layer.

  • Lidar Sources: There is typically only one Lidar source. If there are multiple, you can confirm you have the most up-to-date lidar source avaiable.
  • Offset Adjustment: fine tune the placement of the map layer North/South and East/West and Elevation
  • Opacity Adjustment: Adjust the visual opacity of the lidar layer. This can be helpful when making other adjustments to the Lidar layer
  • Appearance Adjustments:
    • Gradients: Adjust the Lidar gradient color scale for easier Lidar layer visualization in different design scenarios
    • Elevation Mesh vs. Point Cloud: Visualize the Lidar data in a mesh or point cloud visualization
  • Include in Viewshed analysis:
    • Toggle this setting on to include the layer in the viewshed analysis.
    • Be sure to adjust this layer to align it with the scene before using this setting.

Google 3D / Solar API Reference Layer

The Google3D / Solar API reference layer, if it is available, allows you to adjust the offset and opacity of the layer, and customize its appearance. You can also include the layer in viewshed shading analysis so that your production calculations account for this layer.

    • Gradients vs. Map Layer: The gradient view shows the implied solar potential of the surface based on the Google Solar API. The Map layer shows a textured image layer over the surface for a more traditional 3d model view.

3D Model Reference Layer

The 3D model reference layer is exclusively accessible for Scanifly sites that have drone-based 3D models. With this layer, you can easily modify the offset, rotation, and opacity of the 3D model.

  • Offset Adjustment: fine tune the placement of the map layer North/South and East/West location
  • Rotation Adjustment: Adjust the azimuth / orientation of the 3D model.
    • NOTE: If you are having to frequently adjust the 3D model rotation, please reach out to hello@scanifly.com. This may be an indication of a drone issue.
  • Opacity Adjustment: Adjust the visual opacity of the lidar layer. This can be helpful when making other adjustments to the Lidar layer

Add Reference Layer

To customize your design, you have the option to add your own reference layer using the "Add Layer" section. This feature is especially useful in situations where a satellite image is not available, such as in new construction projects, or when additional reference layers are needed for specific design scenarios.

  • Offset Adjustment: fine tune the placement of the imported image reference layer North/South and East/West location
  • Opacity Adjustment: Adjust the visual opacity of the imported image reference layer.
  • Scale Adjustment: Adjust the scale/size of the imported image reference layer.
  • Rotation Adjustment: Adjust the rotation/azimuth of the imported image reference layer.
