#### Switch from the standard proposal to a custom template, and understand that custom templates carry the same live project data.
The standard proposal is what you get with no setup. A custom proposal is one built from a template, and you switch between them with the **Active Proposal** selector in the editor.

A custom proposal does **not** require your company to build a template. Scanifly can provide ready-made templates you can use immediately, and Scanifly can recreate your company's existing proposal as a template for you. You do not need to open the template builder to use a custom proposal.

##### 1. Open the Active Proposal Selector in the Editor
In the editor, find the **Active Proposal** section. This is where you choose which proposal renders when you generate.

##### 2. Choose the Standard Proposal or a Custom One
The standard proposal is listed first and is what you get by default. Custom templates available to your company appear in the **Custom** section of the selector.

##### 3. Generate and Preview
Click **Generate** to render the proposal you selected. Everything you adjusted in the editor carries over, exactly as it does for the standard proposal.

##### 4. Know That Custom Templates Pull the Same Live Data
A custom template is not a static document. It reads from the same sources as the standard proposal, so the following stay current as you work:
* Your company logo, branding, and address details
* The customer name, from the project
* System size and output, from the design
* Payback and other financial figures, from your editor adjustments
* Your selected images
Change something in the editor and generate again, and the custom proposal reflects it.
📘 **Pro Tip:**
Because the data is live, a custom template can look nothing like the standard proposal and still be accurate. Some companies run templates styled as a newspaper or a magazine spread, with real system numbers rendered inside them.

##### 5. Use Reports as Pages or as Standalone Exports
Alongside the standard and custom proposals, you also get reports. Each report updates based on your editor adjustments, and each can be used either as an individual page inside a proposal or as its own separate export.
